COMBO MAT & REFORMER

Pilates is a progressive exercise program. It is essential to learn the principles first, layering in the exercises in stages. Once confident and strong with the beginning and movements, the time would be right to progress. Muscles build from the centre out and the whole system works with breath, the rhythmical, flowing breath, the most essential principle to master.

The studio is fully equipped with four reformers, that are able to convert and effectively become mats ‘off the floor’. All reformers are fully accessorized with plank bars and jump boards with quick change conversion options, suitable for group class transitions. To provide options and challenges, we use Pilates arcs and rings (Magic Circles), stability balls, small balls and resistance bands as well as a full range of hand weights and body bars.

These combo classes are similar to circuit classes, where each group of four (maximum) perform similar exercises on the reformers and the small apparatus on the mats. We might swap over after each set of exercises, or after a period of time, To participate in Mat and reformer, you must be able to get up and down off the floor easily enough as there are several transitions in any one session.
